How to Render Beeswax in a PRIMO

  1. Collect cappings and combSave cappings from uncapping and old comb from frame rotation.
  2. Melt in a PRIMOLoad the wax and set the digital controller. Waterless heating means no water bath to manage.
  3. Settle and separateHold the melt so honey and debris settle below the clean wax layer.
  4. Drain clean waxDrain from the valve into block molds, or transfer to a filler for candles and balms.

Always follow your wax supplier's temperature guidance and the PRIMO manual. Manuals

Questions and Answers

What is the best way to melt beeswax in volume?

Use a waterless, digitally controlled stainless steel tank such as PRIMO. Set the temperature, melt cappings or comb, let debris settle, and drain clean wax from the valve. PRIMO 50 holds 56 lb and PRIMO 100 holds 105 lb; larger sizes go to 60,000 lb.

Can the same tank hold honey for bottling?

Yes. PRIMO heated holding and dispensing tanks are listed for honey, syrups and oils, with digital temperature control. Fill jars from the valve or add a heated filler such as EZ-1 or AutoValve.

Do you make hive dipping tanks?

Yes. The Industrial Beekeeping Hive Dipping and Wax Treatment System is a custom electric hive dipping tank for high temperature wax treatment, with standard, spillway return and reservoir or trough configurations up to 320°F / 160°C.

Can I make beeswax candles and lip balm with the same equipment?

Yes. Melt beeswax in a PRIMO and pour candles or balms from the valve, or fill with an EZ-1 (2 to 20 oz fills) or AutoValve (1/8 to 20 oz range and larger ranges).
