Industrial Beekeeping Hive Dipping System

WaxMelters industrial hive dipping tanks are custom-built
electric thermal-processing systems for controlled,
high-temperature wax treatment of hive boxes and other
commercial beekeeping components.

Each system is designed around the actual load being submerged,
including hive-box dimensions, boxes per batch, working depth,
wax displacement, operating temperature and production rate.

Fast, even, energy-efficient waterless heating without
a propane burner or open flame.

Designed for Full Hive Immersion

Submerging hive boxes can displace a substantial volume of molten
wax. For that reason, the correct dipping system depends on more
than tank capacity alone.

Designed Around the Load

  • Hive-box outside dimensions
  • Number of boxes per batch
  • Box orientation or stacking arrangement
  • Required immersion depth

Designed Around the Process

  • Operating temperature
  • Wax or wax blend
  • Expected material displacement
  • Desired production cycle rate

Choose Your Dipping Tank Configuration

WaxMelters offers three primary configurations based on how
displaced wax and overflow need to be handled during immersion.

STANDARD

Standard Hive Dipping Tank

Straightforward heated immersion tank for processes
that do not require a dedicated overflow-management area.

  • Custom tank dimensions
  • Electric high-temperature heating
  • Simple immersion configuration
  • Best for lower-displacement processes

POPULAR PRODUCTION CONFIGURATION

Spillway Return System

Adds a fabricated spillway around the working vessel
to control wax displaced when hive boxes are submerged.

  • Provides a controlled overflow pathway
  • Helps prevent uncontrolled wax loss
  • Directs displaced material back toward the process area
  • Designed for repeated production cycles

ENHANCED CONTAINMENT

Reservoir / Trough System

Adds an additional fabricated inner wall that creates
a dedicated perimeter trough around the working vessel.

  • Greater displaced-material capacity
  • Dedicated perimeter containment area
  • Additional overflow management
  • Useful for higher-displacement applications

Available Spillway & Trough Sizes

2″ Spillway
Compact overflow-management configuration.
3″ Spillway
Increased spillway capacity for greater material displacement.
2″ × 2″ Reservoir / Trough
Dedicated containment channel created by an additional inner wall.
3″ × 3″ Reservoir / Trough
Larger perimeter reservoir for processes requiring
additional containment capacity.
Which configuration should you choose?
The correct design depends on tank size, hive-box load,
operating wax level and expected displacement. WaxMelters can
recommend the appropriate configuration from your process information.

Typical Hive Dipping Process

1
Load Wax
Add the required wax or wax blend.
2
Heat
Bring material to the required controlled temperature.
3
Load Boxes
Position hive boxes in the required orientation.
4
Immerse
Submerge for the required process dwell time.
5
Drain
Remove boxes and allow excess wax to return to the tank.
6
Repeat
Reload for continued production processing.

Fast, Even Waterless Heating

  • Electric heating with digital temperature control
  • Waterless design, no water jacket to fill or maintain
  • No propane burner or open-flame heating required
  • High-temperature configurations up to approximately 320°F / 160°C
  • Double-wall insulated construction
  • Designed for repeatable batch and production operation

Industrial Construction

  • Stainless steel construction
  • Insulated tank body
  • Custom internal length, width and depth
  • Custom working volume
  • Optional casters or stationary installation
  • Optional submersion fixtures and hold-down systems
  • Drain and cleaning configurations available
  • Washdown configurations available where required

Information Required for Custom Sizing

Before we configure your system, please provide:

  1. Internal tank dimensions required, if already known
  2. Hive-box outside dimensions
  3. Number of boxes per batch
  4. Required operating temperature
  5. Wax or material being processed
  6. Desired production rate
  7. Available voltage / electrical service
  8. Washdown requirements, if applicable

Revolutionary PRIMO Hive Dipping Technology

WaxMelters approaches hive dipping as an engineered thermal process.

Our PRIMO waterless heating technology combines controlled electric
heating, insulated stainless steel construction and custom
tank geometry with overflow-management systems designed around
the actual load being submerged.

The result is a faster, more controlled and more efficient approach
to commercial hive dipping.

More Than a Heated Tank

Waterless Heating Technology

PRIMO systems eliminate the water jacket and
associated water maintenance while providing controlled electric heating evenly throughout the process vessel.

Designed Around Displacement

Tank size is calculated around hive-box dimensions,
operating level and the volume of wax displaced when
the load is submerged.

Engineered Overflow Control

Spillway and reservoir/trough configurations provide
dedicated areas for controlling wax displaced during
the dipping cycle.

Production-Level Construction

Industrial stainless construction, insulation, digital
control and custom configurations are designed for
repeatable commercial processing.

Standard, Spillway or Reservoir / Trough?

The best system depends on how much material is displaced during
immersion and how you want that displaced wax managed.

  • Standard Dipping Tank:
straightforward immersion vessel where a dedicated
    overflow-management area is not required.
  • Spillway Return System:
adds a fabricated overflow area that controls displaced wax
and provides a defined path back toward the process vessel.
  • Reservoir / Trough System:
adds an additional fabricated inner wall to create a dedicated
containment channel for greater displaced-material capacity.
Available configurations:
2″ Spillway |
3″ Spillway |
2″ × 2″ Reservoir/Trough |
3″ × 3″ Reservoir/Trough

Why Commercial Beekeepers Choose Electric Hive Dipping

  • Fast, even digitally controlled heating
  • No open-flame propane burner required
  • No water jacket to fill or maintain
  • Insulated construction improves heat retention
  • Controlled operating temperature throughout the dipping cycle
  • Custom tank dimensions for hive-box size and batch capacity
  • Overflow-management configurations for production dipping
  • Designed for repeatable commercial use
Good for Your Wallet. Even Better for Your Bees.
PRIMO technology is designed to reduce unnecessary energy use
and maintenance while giving commercial beekeepers greater
control over a demanding high-temperature process.
