Commercial Beekeeping Equipment

WaxMelters designs and manufactures high-temperature electric hive dipping tanks for commercial beekeeping operations requiring controlled wax immersion, repeatable processing and durable industrial construction.

Each system can be configured around your hive-box dimensions, batch size, required operating temperature and the amount of wax displaced during immersion.

Fast, even, energy-efficient electric heating: engineered for real production.

Designed Around Material Displacement

Industrial beekeeping hive tray dipping systemA loaded dipping tank demonstrates how much liquid volume can be displaced as material is submerged.

Hive dipping is not simply a matter of heating wax. Submerging one or more hive boxes displaces a substantial volume of molten material inside the tank.

The amount of displacement depends on the outside dimensions of the boxes, number of boxes per batch, immersion depth and tank dimensions.

WaxMelters therefore offers several tank configurations for managing displaced wax during the dipping cycle, from a straightforward immersion tank to dedicated spillway and reservoir/trough systems.

Why this matters:
The overflow-management system should be selected as part of the tank design, not treated as an afterthought after the dipping tank has already been built.

Choose Your Hive Dipping Tank Configuration

WaxMelters can build the dipping tank around the amount of overflow management and material containment your process requires.

Standard Hive Dipping Tank

A straightforward heated immersion tank for applications that do not require a dedicated external overflow area.

  • Custom tank dimensions
  • Electric high-temperature heating
  • Digital temperature control
  • Designed around hive-box dimensions
  • Suitable for simpler immersion processes
POPULAR PRODUCTION CONFIGURATION

Spillway Return System

Spillway
Adds a fabricated spillway around the tank to manage wax displaced during immersion and provide a controlled path for material to return to the processing area.

  • Controls displaced wax during immersion
  • Provides a controlled return path
  • Reduces uncontrolled overflow and material loss
  • Well suited to repeated production cycles
  • Available in 2" and 3" spillway configurations

Reservoir / Trough System

Reservoir-Trough
Adds an additional fabricated inner wall to create a dedicated perimeter trough for increased containment and management of displaced wax and process material.

  • The reservoir/trough configuration goes beyond a basic spillway by adding another fabricated wall to create a dedicated channel around the processing tank.
  • Dedicated containment area around the tank
  • Additional fabricated inner wall
  • Greater displaced-material capacity
  • Enhanced overflow management
  • Available in 2" × 2" and 3" × 3" configurations

Choose the Overflow Capacity

The appropriate size depends on the dipping tank dimensions, load displacement, number of hive boxes submerged per cycle and the amount of overflow-management capacity required.

Spillway Return Systems
2" Spillway 3" Spillway

A larger spillway provides additional capacity for managing displaced material on larger tanks or higher-displacement dipping processes.

Reservoir / Trough Systems
2" × 2" Reservoir / Trough 3" × 3" Reservoir / Trough

Reservoir/trough systems incorporate the additional fabricated wall and provide increased dedicated containment around the processing tank.

Not sure which configuration you need?
Provide the dimensions of the hive boxes, quantity per batch, tank dimensions or desired batch size, and operating process. WaxMelters can determine which configuration is appropriate.

Typical Hive Dipping Process

1

Load

Add the specified wax or wax blend to the dipping system.
2

Heat

Bring the material to the required processing temperature.
3

Submerge

Lower the hive boxes into the heated wax using the selected fixture.
4

Hold

Maintain immersion for the process-specific dwell time.
5

Drain

Remove the boxes and allow excess material to return to the system.
6

Repeat

Continue through subsequent batches for production processing.

Engineered for High-Temperature Dipping

Commercial hive dipping requires sustained, controlled heat. WaxMelters systems can be configured for high-temperature wax-processing applications in the 270°F to 320°F range (unit reaches up to 400°F / 204°C).

Fast, Even Electric Heating

Controlled electric heating eliminates the need for an open-flame propane burner and provides repeatable temperature control throughout the dipping process.

Insulated Construction

Double-wall insulated construction helps retain processing heat and reduces unnecessary energy loss.

Digital Temperature Control

Maintain the specified processing temperature.

Production-Ready Design

Systems can be configured for repeated dipping cycles, multiple hive boxes and continuous batch production.

Hive Dipping System Features

  • Electric heating with digital temperature control
  • High-temperature configurations up to 320°F / 160°C
  • Fast, even heating without an open-flame burner
  • Double-wall insulated stainless steel construction
  • Custom tank length, width and depth
  • Standard, spillway and reservoir/trough configurations
  • 2" and 3" overflow-management options
  • Optional hive-box submersion fixtures and lids
  • Drain ports and cleaning configurations available
  • Designed for batch and repeated production use

Custom Built Around Your Hive Boxes

Hive dipping systems are not one-size-fits-all. Tank dimensions should be based on the actual outside dimensions of the hive boxes, the number being processed per batch, their orientation and the required immersion depth.

WaxMelters can also account for material displacement, overflow-management requirements, fixtures, drain locations, controls and facility electrical requirements.

To configure your system, provide:
  • Hive-box outside dimensions
  • Number of boxes per batch
  • Desired box orientation
  • Required immersion depth
  • Wax or wax-blend being processed
  • Required operating temperature
  • Target cycle or production rate
  • Available electrical service
