Custom PRIMO Process System

Circulating systems add controlled material movement to a custom heated tank. They may be used to improve temperature uniformity, move overflow into a return section, filter or clarify material, or transfer heated material through an external process loop.

Every system is reviewed around the material viscosity, temperature, flow objective, internal dimensions, pump requirements, filtration, piping, and production method.

When circulation is useful

More than a Pump Added to a Dip Tank

The circulation objective determines the pump, return location, pipe size, filtration, reservoir, spillway, control method, and whether multiple chambers interact or remain independently controlled.

Temperature Uniformity

Continuously move heated material through the chamber or loop to reduce temperature variation in the process.

Overflow & Return

Use a spillway, reservoir, trough, or return section to capture and return excess material during dipping or coating.

Filtration & Clarification

Remove debris, solids, wax contamination, or process residue using application-appropriate capture and filtration methods.

Integrated thermal design

Circulation Complements the Heating System

Circulation should not be used as a substitute for an inadequately designed tank-heating system. Uniform processing begins with a vessel whose heating, sensing, controls, insulation, and geometry have been engineered to work together.

PRIMO engineers the underlying tank to heat evenly throughout, including the corners. Circulation is then added when the application requires controlled material movement, filtration, clarification, overflow return, or transfer through an external process loop.

Tank and Process Loop Engineered Together

The pump, piping, return location, reservoir, spillway, filtration, and flow path must be matched to the tank dimensions, material viscosity, temperature, and production objective.

  • Stable heating begins inside the tank
  • Flow is directed around the application requirement
  • Return locations are selected to support the process
  • Filtration and clarification are integrated where required
  • Controls coordinate the tank and circulation components

Material Behavior Matters

Pump and piping selection cannot be based on tank size alone. State the viscosity when fully heated or review it with a familiar liquid, such as water, motor oil, warm honey, heavy syrup, or tar.

Not sure about the design?

Select "Unsure" in the form and explain the result you need. A process sketch, existing equipment photo, material data sheet, or flow diagram can be uploaded for technical review.

Describe the Process

Common configurations

Circulation Can Be Integrated Several Ways

In-Tank Circulation

Draw material from one area and return it to the same chamber for controlled movement and temperature distribution.

External Process Loop

Move material through piping, filtration, heating, dispensing, or another process component before returning it.

Multi-Chamber Transfer

Move material between heated sections while retaining independent or coordinated temperature control.

PRIMO Waterless Heating and Construction

Both are industrial heating methods, but they solve different requirements. WaxMelters recommends the construction that fits the material, installation, temperature, controls, and applicable safety classification.

PRIMO Waterless Systems

  • Heating is engineered for the vessel geometry and material
  • No jacket water level to maintain
  • No mineral scale from jacket water
  • Insulated construction and digital material-temperature control
  • Preferred for most standard non-hazardous applications

Water-Jacketed Systems

  • Heat transfers through an intermediate water or thermal-fluid jacket
  • Jacket condition and fluid level require management
  • Useful when a specification or process specifically requires this construction
  • Available for appropriate hazardous-location or legacy requirements
  • Application review is required before selection

Performance depends on tank size, material, starting temperature, batch load, operating setpoint, electrical service, and process conditions. Publish quantified speed or energy claims only when supported by documented testing for the reviewed configurations.
