Diagnose where time, labor, handling, recovery, filling or floor space may be restricting the operation you have today.
Check every statement that regularly occurs. The goal is to locate the constraint before choosing equipment.
Filling, pouring, pumping or packaging pauses while material heats or returns toward operating temperature.
Repeated manual transfer consumes labor and makes output more dependent on individual operator technique.
The tank may have sufficient capacity while dispensing becomes the actual production bottleneck.
Material loss and cleanup time can indicate that the transfer method no longer matches production scale.
Outside dimensions, operator clearance and usable process capacity can matter as much as nominal tank size.
The current system is already near its practical limit and may not support the next stage of production growth.
Check the statements above that regularly occur in your production process.
The constraint may be heating capacity, recovery time, feed pattern or insufficient process-ready reserve.
The constraint may be transfer design. Review valves, pumps, heated hoses and controlled dispensing.
The downstream filling or dispensing system may be limiting total line output even if the melter has adequate capacity.
The issue may be facility efficiency or future capacity. Review usable capacity, installed power and floor area before simply buying a larger tank.
Once You Know the Bottleneck, Plan the Complete Production Requirement
Use the Industrial Production Planning guide next. It should determine material requirements, batch size, throughput, thermal duty, downstream demand and facility needs.
There is no single production quantity at which every business should automate. The better question is whether the current method is creating recurring labor, handling, recovery, filling or facility constraints.
Very small production runs, testing, product development and occasional batches may not justify dedicated production equipment. The correct equipment should match the scale and frequency of the process.
As volume increases, the cost of repeated manual handling, employee waiting and interrupted production can become more important than minimizing the initial equipment purchase.
Carrying, pouring, monitoring and transferring material may appear inexpensive because the equipment investment is low, but repeated labor can become a significant operating cost as production volume grows. Evaluate operator time and process interruptions along with equipment price.
Evaluate outside footprint, connected heating power, electrical service, operator clearance and usable process capacity when reviewing equipment.
No. Production depends on the material, process, equipment configuration, recovery requirement, operator workflow and downstream demand. Equipment should be selected around the actual bottleneck.
Not necessarily. First determine whether capacity, heating recovery, transfer, filling or another process step is restricting output.
Any permanently occupied production area has an economic value. Review the outside footprint of the equipment with usable process capacity, operator space and the value of the surrounding floor area.
Provide the material, batch weight or working volume, starting and target temperatures, desired production rate, current equipment, downstream filling or transfer process and available electrical service.
Once you know whether the constraint is melting, recovery, handling, filling, footprint or future capacity, move to the Industrial Production Planning Guide. There you can define batch size, throughput, thermal duty, downstream demand, facility requirements and future growth before selecting equipment.
