Controller-specific document

TC4 Controller Setup & Programming Guide

The TC4 document and videos cover controller setup, factory reset and configuration values. Confirm the equipment type, size and approximate year before selecting the output setting.

  • Confirm equipment model and approximate year.
  • Confirm the controller face and controller name match.
  • Periodically reviewing the programmed values is a useful way to verify that the saved settings have not changed.
  • RELAY: Use for every PRIMO 3/25 (3-gallon / 25-lb) unit, every filling system and melters manufactured through 2024.
  • SSR: Use only for 2025-and-newer PRIMO melters larger than the PRIMO 3/25 (3-gallon / 25-lb).
  • If uncertain, submit a controller photo through guided troubleshooting.

Written TC4 Programming Instructions

Factory Reset the TC4 Controller

  1. Hold all three buttons until the controller displays INIT.
  2. Press the left arrow. The controller will display NO. Press the up arrow to select YES. This factory resets the TC4 controller.

Program the TC4 Controller

  1. Hold the MODE button until you see PAR2. It will display INT. Press the left arrow to change the setting.
  2. Go to JIC and press MODE to save.
  3. When the controller displays UNIT, press the left arrow to choose Celsius or Fahrenheit. Domestic units use Fahrenheit. Press MODE to save.
  4. Press MODE until you see HSU. Set HSU to 212°F for a standard melter. Set HSU to 400°F only for an existing melter with Xtreme upgrade. WaxHand Units to 130F. Press MODE to save.
  5. Skip OFT and go to C-ND. Press the left arrow to change the setting from PID to ONOFF. Press MODE to save.
  6. At OUT, select RELAY for every PRIMO 3/25 (3-gallon / 25-lb) unit, every filling system and melters manufactured through 2024. Select SSR only for 2025-and-newer PRIMO melters larger than the PRIMO 3/25. Press MODE to save.
  7. Change DIY from OFF to STOP.
  8. Hold the MODE button to save all changes.
  9. Go to PAR1, then HYS. Press the left arrow, then press the down arrow to change the setting to 1. Press MODE to save.
  10. Hold MODE to save all changed settings, then set the controller to the required operating temperature.

How to Reprogram a PRIMO Melter Temperature Controller

Output setting: PRIMO 3gal/ 25lb units always use RELAY. Melters manufactured through 2024 use RELAY. For 2025-and-newer PRIMO melters larger than the PRIMO 3gal/ 25lb, use SSR.
