Custom PRIMO Continuous-Feed Process Systems
Custom heated immersion and dip-coating equipment for continuously processing fabric, yarn, thread, cord, paper, film, nonwovens, and other compatible flexible substrates through waxes and temperature-controlled coatings.
Each system is built around the substrate width, coating material, temperature, immersion path, line speed, coating-control method, cooling distance, and take-up requirements.
The flexible material travels through the heated bath, around the immersion roller, and into a cooling, drying, wiping, squeezing, or take-up stage. The exit equipment can be positioned away from the bath so the substrate has the required open run before it is wound.
Roller count, path, coating controls, cooling distance, and station spacing are engineered for the application.
Modular melting capacity
PRIMO continuous fabric-coating systems are designed to minimize the amount of standing wax in the coating bath. The coating station holds the active working volume, while one or more separate PRIMO wax melters can maintain reserve wax and replenish the bath as needed during production.
As your production needs grow, you can add another standard PRIMO wax melter to increase reserve and replenishment capacity, without replacing the fabric coating machine or rebuilding the material-handling line.
Flexible-substrate applications
Working width, strand count, absorbency, tension, coating pickup, and cooling behavior determine the system.
For textiles, cloth, nonwovens, paper, compatible films, tapes, and other roll-fed materials.
For one or multiple continuous strands requiring guided travel through a temperature-controlled coating bath.
For surface coating or deeper penetration using waxes and other reviewed, compatible process materials.
Correct equipment classification
The defining function is the continuous movement of fabric, yarn, thread, cord, film, paper, or another flexible substrate through the heated coating bath and downstream handling stages.
A circulation pump may be added to support temperature uniformity, filtration, or coating consistency, but circulation does not define the machine. It remains a continuous immersion or roll-to-roll coating system.
Typical system architecture
Application data
Continuous coating performance cannot be selected by tank capacity alone. The web path, coating behavior, roll handling, and downstream cooling or drying requirement must be reviewed together.
| Requirement | Why It Matters | What to Provide |
|---|---|---|
| Substrate | Determines roller surfaces, guidance, tension, and compatibility. | Material type, thickness, absorbency, flexibility, and whether it is fabric, web, or individual strands. |
| Working width | Determines bath length, roller face, frame width, heat input, and coating inventory. | Maximum coated width, edge clearance, strand count, and strand spacing. |
| Coating material | Determines temperature range, wetted components, circulation, and cleaning method. | Material name, safety data sheet, heated viscosity, normal temperature, and maximum temperature. |
| Coating result | Determines immersion path and whether wiping, squeezing, or metering is required. | Target pickup, coating thickness, penetration, finish, or acceptable process range. |
| Line movement | Determines residence time, drive sizing, roller arrangement, and production output. | Target feet or meters per minute, desired immersion time, and pounds or yards processed per shift. |
| Roll handling | Determines unwind, take-up, shaft, brake, motor, and structural requirements. | Maximum roll diameter, roll weight, core size, winding direction, and tension needs. |
| Cooling or drying | Determines the required open run and whether fans or another process stage are needed. | Available floor length, expected setting time, target exit condition, and ambient limitations. |
| Facility | Determines electrical, controls, frame, guarding, sanitation, and installation details. | Voltage, phase, frequency, floor-space limits, washdown method, ventilation, and area classification. |
Quoting process
Provide the material, width, roll or strand format, and required coating result.
State the bath temperature, immersion time, line speed, and wiping or squeeze needs.
Specify the cooling distance, floor space, unwind, take-up, and automation level.
WaxMelters reviews the process and quotes the appropriate system configuration.
Frequently Asked Questions
It can be configured as a roll-to-roll system when the substrate feeds from a roll and winds onto a take-up roll. The same heated immersion platform may also process individual yarns, threads, cords, or other continuously fed flexible materials.
In a continuous coating system, the substrate moves through the coating bath. In a circulating tank, the coating material moves through a pump or process loop. A continuous system may include circulation, but the material-handling path remains its defining function.
Yes. The outfeed and take-up arrangement may be separate and movable so the substrate has the required cooling, drying, or setting distance before winding. Available floor space and the desired exit condition are reviewed during configuration.
Manual, geared, and variable-speed powered take-up arrangements are available. When future automation is planned, WaxMelters can review the initial frame, shaft, and drive provisions so the system has a practical upgrade path.
The bath is designed around the required working width, roller diameter, immersion depth, and operating level. This keeps the coating inventory matched to the process.
Potentially. Material compatibility, heated viscosity, operating temperature, safety data, cleaning method, and facility classification must be reviewed. Solvent-based, reactive, combustible, or otherwise hazardous materials require specific engineering review and may not be suitable for a standard configuration.
