CHAPTER 3 • PRIMO WAX HANDS BUSINESS & OPERATOR GUIDE
Choosing a Commercial Wax Hand Machine
Choose by footprint, transport requirement, chamber layout and venue integration—not by buying the biggest machine or the longest list of chambers.
Choose the Physical Platform First
Do not begin with chamber count alone. The most important decision is how the equipment physically fits the operation: compact tabletop, full commercial tabletop, vehicle-travel system, self-contained storage workstation or custom attraction build.

If Space Is Expensive, Measure It
Traditional wax-hand machines are often sold as floor-standing systems. PRIMO's waterless architecture allows much smaller tabletop equipment. The PRIMO 4 Compact, for example, uses a 20 × 20 in. rectangular footprint. A currently published conventional 4-sleeve floor-standing system measures 48.5 × 20.25 in. Comparing the outside rectangles only, PRIMO 4 uses approximately 59% less footprint.
Capacities and designs differ, so this is not an equivalency claim. It demonstrates why the physical architecture matters. At a paid booth or leased attraction, square footage that is not occupied by the machine can be used for customers, cooling, checkout, finishing, packaging or storage.

If You Travel, Choose the Machine Built to Travel
The X-Press is the purpose-built mobile PRIMO platform. It operates at approximately 30 inches high and compacts to approximately 17 inches high for transportation. That is different from putting casters on a large machine: the equipment architecture itself changes for the vehicle.
Choose X-Press when loading and unloading are recurring parts of the business. Choose the 305 when storage and self-contained high capacity matter more than repeated vehicle transport.
5 Chambers vs. 6 or 7
Choose a Larger Base Chamber When…
You want more working volume in the primary clear/base wax, expect higher throughput in the base stage or simply prefer the conventional “one large + colors” workflow.
Choose More Equal Color Chambers When…
Color variety is a larger part of the customer experience and you would rather allocate the machine footprint to more individual wax colors than one oversized base chamber.
When a Large Attraction Should Choose Custom TableTop
A major attraction may already have custom counters, themed cabinetry, guest lanes and utilities. In that situation, buying a generic floor-standing cart can waste space and fight the venue design. A large custom tabletop PRIMO can integrate directly into the attraction's existing structure.
Use Custom when the standard physical platforms force a compromise in footprint, chamber count, working height or venue integration—not merely because you want a normal 5/6/7 chamber option.
Worksheet: Equipment Selection
Does the equipment need to travel in a vehicle weekly or more?
Available counter/floor footprint:
Desired number of colors:
Need a large base chamber? Why?
Need enclosed storage?
Need integrated cooling?
Existing kiosk/counter that suggests a custom tabletop build?
