CHAPTER 2 • PRIMO WAX HANDS BUSINESS & OPERATOR GUIDE
Wax Hands 101
Understand the commercial wax-hand process, the language used across the industry and the difference between removable chambers, heating architecture and cooling.
What Is a Commercial Wax-Hand Experience?
A wax-hand attraction creates a hollow wax reproduction of a guest's hand position through repeated controlled dipping and cooling. The finished piece can be colored, layered and packaged as a personalized souvenir.
The Experience
The customer chooses a pose, prepares the hand, follows the operator through cooling/wetting and wax dipping, then receives the finished wax form.
The Business
The value is not simply the paraffin. Customers pay for participation, personalization, color choice, entertainment, finishing and a take-home keepsake.
Industry Terminology
Different manufacturers and operators use different words for the same general components. WaxMelters uses wax chamber because it clearly describes the removable stainless vessel that holds one wax color or base wax.

Base Wax vs. Color Wax
Many commercial layouts use a larger primary chamber plus several smaller color chambers. The larger chamber provides working volume for the initial layers, while the smaller chambers provide different colors. Other operators prefer several equal-size chambers because color variety matters more to their particular business.
This is why PRIMO treats chamber arrangement as a configuration choice on full-size platforms rather than forcing a separate product page for every permutation.
Why the Cooling Stage Matters
The wax-hand process is not only a heating process. Cooling/wetting is part of the guest workflow and helps control how layers form and how the finished wax shell is handled. Traditional event setups often use a separate plastic cooler. PRIMO systems can be configured with a Professional Integrated Cooling Station so the cooling area becomes part of the workstation.
Removable Chambers: Useful, but Not the Whole PRIMO Story
Removable wax vessels are common in the industry. PRIMO's differentiator is the combination of removable stainless-steel chambers with a waterless heating architecture, space-efficient equipment design, EZ-Clean Topper™, integrated cooling options, the X-Press EZCOMPACT travel platform and the 305 storage workstation.
What “Waterless” Means
Waterless refers to the heating architecture. PRIMO does not require a conventional heated-water jacket around the wax chambers. It does not mean that the entire wax-hand process uses no water; water or ice may still be used during the cooling stage.
Worksheet: Translate Your Desired Experience Into Equipment Needs
How many wax colors do you want available at one time?
Do you need one oversized base-wax chamber?
Will the equipment travel?
Will cooling be separate or integrated?
What finishing/packaging experience will you provide?
