Wax Melter Voltage Guide: Which Electrical Service Do You Need?

Why WaxMelters

Performance as described in our warranty terms; construction backed by our 1-Year Limited Equipment Warranty and 3-Year Fabricated Stainless-Steel Vessel Warranty (warranty terms).

WaxMelters is the industry leader and a US manufacturer of melting, heating and filling equipment for every business size, from startup to factory, and every industry.

  • Best performance: the best and fastest melting and heating. Waterless PRIMO heating melts 2–3X faster using half the electricity.
  • Safe, even heating: permanent heaters, digital material-temperature control and insulated 304 stainless vessels, with no open flame.
  • The most energy efficient: fast melting on half the electricity.
  • Saves you time, energy and money.
  • Highest-quality construction: 304 stainless, made in the USA in Ronkonkoma, NY, and online since 1999. Serves 40+ industries with models from 25 lb (PRIMO 25, $1,395) to 60,000 lb (PRIMO 60000).

Short answer: Smaller PRIMO melters (PRIMO 25 through PRIMO 250) are 110–120 V standard, which is a normal outlet-voltage unit, with optional 220–240 V (+$150), 480 V or 600 V versions. Mid-size melters (PRIMO 350–1000) are 110–120 V for the standard-temperature unit and 220–240 V for High-Temp X-Treme. PRIMO 1500 and larger are 220–240 V standard. Before ordering, confirm the voltage, phase and amperage available at the install location.

Rapid-Cycle versions draw more power (e.g. PRIMO RC 150: 1,580 W; RC 1500: 4,500 W) and carry the same voltage options as the matching standard model.

Filling and dispensing systems (EZ-1, AutoShot, Pour X-Press, QUATTRO, OCTO) are listed as 110–120 V standard, with a "220-240 Volt Electronic Adapter" option (+$150).

Temperature range affects voltage on mid-size units

Standard PRIMO control is 0–212 °F. The High-Temp X-Treme option (0–400 °F) is priced per model (for example +$250 on the PRIMO 25, +$525 on the PRIMO 100, +$855 on the PRIMO 500). On the PRIMO 350–1000, X-Treme units are 220–240 V.

What to confirm with your electrician

  • Voltage at the outlet or panel (110–120, 208/220–240, 480 or 600 V)
  • Single-phase or three-phase service
  • Available amperage on the circuit
  • Outside North America: your local supply voltage. 220–240 V units are available, and international orders are supported.

Send these with your model choice. Include your available electrical service in the application review.
