Pour X-Press Melting & Filling Combination System Manual & Troubleshooting
One coordinated guide for PX1000, PX2000, PX3000 and configured melt-and-fill systems using an EZ-1 hand dispenser, AutoShot dispensing head or heated-transfer connection. Follow the shared tank-to-dispenser sequence first, then use the section for the installed dispenser.
Stop using the unit if there is an immediate safety concern. Do not open any enclosure before contact WaxMelters.

Safety rules for the complete melt-and-fill system
Only trained operators who have read the instructions for the exact configuration may use the equipment. Do not operate if the instructions cannot be read and understood.
Wear protective clothing, heat-resistant gloves and safety glasses or face protection appropriate to the material and process.
Install the tank and filling system level and secure on a stable structure rated for the full operating weight. Lock mobile equipment in position and never operate it on an incline.
Keep the system at least 20 ft from combustible material unless a written requirement for the exact installation specifies more. Keep appropriate fire protection within reach.
Process only material approved for the equipment configuration. Review the supplier instructions, SDS, flash point and safe temperature limits before heating. Do not process explosive, caustic or otherwise prohibited material.
Provide suitable ventilation, but do not aim a fan or cooling air at the tank, hose, valve or dispenser.
Use a properly grounded, nameplate-matched, dedicated supply. Do not use an extension cord, power strip, surge protector, external timer or shared/overloaded circuit.
Do not connect or disconnect an electrical connector while energized. Do not open a control box, access an enclosure, touch wiring, defeat grounding or bypass a protective device.
Never use a torch, heat gun or open flame to warm a tank, valve, pump, hose or head.
Never point the dispenser at a person. Keep hands, clothing, tools and containers clear of the outlet and all moving parts.
Do not actuate an EZ-1 or AutoShot head, or run the pump, while the filling path is cold or material is solid. Do not run the pump dry.
Maintain at least a 7 in bend radius in the heated hose. Support its weight; prevent kinks, crushing, pinching, sharp-edge contact and traffic damage.
Do not leave energized equipment unattended. Turn it off after use and allow full cooling before approved disassembly, cleaning or adjustment.
Hot material can cause severe burns. Keep a catch container under the dispenser, expect residual drips, and never place a hand beneath an outlet. Do not add water to hot wax or another process material unless an approved process specifically requires it.
Inspect the shipment and installation area. Confirm every ordered tank, control box, pump, heated hose, dispenser, boom/swivel and balancer is present and undamaged. Do not energize equipment with shipping damage, a crushed hose, bent frame, damaged cord or damaged connector pin.
Stabilize the equipment. Place the system on a level, load-rated surface. Lock casters and confirm the tank, cart and hose support cannot tip, roll or pull against a fitting.
Verify the outlet valve. Keep the valve closed during assembly. On the standard ball valve, the handle is perpendicular to the flow path when closed. Preserve the factory gasket/seal and supplied thread seal; start threaded fittings by hand to avoid cross-threading.
Connect the approved material path. Follow the labels and order-specific drawing. Where supplied, fully seat the pump at the valve and install the retaining/locking pin. Do not substitute extra elbows, reducers or unsupported pipe.
Install the boom and hose support. Seat the boom/swivel and balancer as supplied. Adjust the balancer so the dispenser is supported without lifting itself or pulling on the hose.
Route the heated hose. Maintain at least a 7 in bend radius. Keep the hose off sharp edges, pinch points, hot traffic lanes and the floor where it can be stepped on or rolled over.
Make electrical connections with power disconnected. Align keyed pins and polarity marks before seating connectors; never force them. Some supplied systems use a five-pin pump-to-hose connector and a three-pin hose-to-head connector. Use that description only when it matches the actual labels.
Verify every nameplate. Confirm facility voltage, phase, frequency and circuit capacity match each module. Connect directly to the dedicated grounded supply only after all covers are secure and the exterior is clean and dry.
Perform a final cold check. Confirm the valve is closed, pump is off, filler heat is off, dispenser is supported, a catch container is available and all personnel know the stop procedure.
Quick-connect heated transfer: A separate source tank and filling cart may be combined only with the factory-approved connection and order-specific operating limits. Confirm transfer distance, hose/pump configuration and material compatibility before use.
Sequence matters. Melt and prepare the material first. Heat the complete filling path with the pump off and the valve closed. Do not open the valve or actuate the dispenser until the tank material is fully liquid and the filling path has completed its warm-up.
Prepare the work area and operator. Put on PPE, confirm ventilation and fire protection, secure the system, inspect cords/connectors and place a suitable catch container under the dispenser.
Close the tank outlet valve. Confirm the valve is fully closed and the pump switch is off before loading or heating.
Load the tank before heat. Do not operate the melter empty. Begin at least one-third full unless the exact tank instructions require a higher level. Keep material above the minimum-fill line of every active upper zone.
Energize the tank. Connect to the correct grounded supply, turn on the required tank heat zones and set the approved process temperature. Use the lid when permitted to reduce heat loss.
Prepare the complete batch. Wait until material is fully liquid and ready to fill, including approved mixing and additions. Do not rely only on a listed melt point; confirm the process temperature needed for reliable flow without exceeding material or equipment limits.
Turn on filling-path heat only. Keep the pump off and the outlet valve closed. Set the filling system to an approved target. The supplied PX manual uses a starting point about 10–15°F above the tank setpoint, but never exceed the material supplier's limit or the rating of any component.
Allow the entire path to preheat. For a new or empty path, allow at least 30 minutes and up to 1 hour before opening the valve. If material remains in the tank/filling path, allow 1–3 hours. These are starting ranges; ambient conditions, material, hose length and system configuration can require longer.
Verify readiness without touching hot parts. Confirm controller displays and output indicators are plausible, the hose is supported and the dispenser is aimed into the catch container. Do not touch a surface to test whether it is hot.
Start the pump only after warm-up. Turn the pump on and listen for normal, smooth rotation. If it buzzes, binds, stalls or sounds abnormal, turn the pump off immediately and continue heating only if it is otherwise safe.
Open the outlet valve gradually. After the tank material is fully liquid, the path is warm and pump rotation is normal, open the valve to the operating position. Watch every connection for leakage.
Make a controlled test fill. Use the EZ-1 or AutoShot procedure. Test over the catch container, start with a short fill and adjust only one variable at a time.
Monitor the complete system. Watch material level, tank and filler values, output indicators, pump sound, hose routing, flow quality and all joints. Never leave it unattended.
Complete the common startup. The tank material must be fully prepared, the heated path fully warmed, the pump rotating normally and the valve open.
Control the dispenser. Hold it securely, keep the hose supported and point the outlet into a stable catch container or the center of the intended container. Never point it toward a person.
Start with a short test. Squeeze/operate the handle briefly and observe the stream. Release the handle to stop the fill.
Confirm repeatability. Make several controlled tests. If flow is slow, uneven, stringing or dripping, use flow-quality troubleshooting before increasing production speed.
Manage residual material. Keep the outlet over a catch container after release. A small residual drip can occur; uncontrolled flow or continuous leakage is not normal.
Do not actuate a cold head. If the handle resists, the pump labors or no material emerges, release the handle and turn the pump off. Do not force the handle, probe the outlet or dismantle a hot head.
Complete the common startup. Fully warm the head, hose and pump before attempting a fill cycle. Solid material can damage the AutoShot mechanism.
Confirm the timer face. On the timer described in the supplied manual, SET1 is the delay/off time and SET2 is the fill time. If the labels or display differ, use the instructions for that exact timer.
Begin conservatively. Set a short fill time, place a catch container under the outlet and use the head toggle/control to initiate one cycle.
Adjust one value at a time. Change fill time in small increments, then repeat the test under the same material temperature and container conditions. Change delay/off time only when the workflow requires a different pause.
Verify shutoff. Confirm the cycle stops cleanly and does not continue dispensing. Keep the outlet over the catch container while checking residual drips.
Run only after repeatable tests. Record the final tank setpoint, filler setpoint, SET1, SET2, material and target fill so the setup can be reproduced.
A flow problem downstream can be caused by an upstream restriction. Always verify the path in this order: fully liquid material in the tank, open valve, normal pump rotation, heated/unkinked hose, then the warmed EZ-1 or AutoShot head.
Direct combination
The tank feeds the pump on the same cart or frame. Keep the outlet connection supported and use the factory retaining/locking hardware.
Quick-connect transfer
A separate source tank supplies the filling system through an approved transfer connection. Verify both modules, all hose zones and transfer distance against the order record.
Use the up/down keys for normal setpoint changes only when they match the installed controller. Record the process value, set value and output indicator before changing anything. The filling-system controller uses a RELAY output configuration; do not copy output, sensor, high-limit, calibration or advanced parameter values from an unrelated tank controller.
Basic operator checks
Confirm the controller belongs to the tank or filling path you intend to adjust.
Set a value within both the material supplier's safe range and the component rating.
Allow time for the process to stabilize; the vessel and retained material have thermal lag.
Review bulk material temperature with a suitable calibrated reference using a consistent, approved method.
Stop and request exact instructions if the controller shows HHHH, an unstable/implausible value, an incorrect unit, or output behavior that does not correspond to heat demand.
Finish the controlled fill. Keep the dispenser over the catch container and stop the EZ-1 or AutoShot cycle.
Close the tank outlet valve. Close it only from the normal operator position and only if the area is safe. Do not force the handle.
Turn the pump off. Do not continue running the pump after material supply is closed or exhausted.
Follow the approved material-specific clearing procedure. If the process uses a normal warm purge or controlled dispense, complete it while the equipment is still within its safe operating range. Do not introduce an unapproved solvent, water, shop air or pressure.
Turn filling-path heat off, then tank heat off. Turn off every installed heat zone and main power control. Disconnect from the receptacle when it can be done safely.
Control residual drips. Leave the dispenser supported over a catch container until the path is no longer dripping and the equipment has cooled.
Clean only after safe cooling. Use the approved external cleaning method. Do not loosen a fitting, remove a hose/head, adjust the valve or open an enclosure while hot or energized.
Inspect and document. Check the hose jacket, connector pins, cord, valve joint, pump connection, head and supports. Report damage before the next use.
Identify the exact symptom and the last point where the system behaves normally. For flow problems, work from the tank toward the dispenser. For electrical/heat problems, record each module separately: tank, filling control, pump, hose and head.
Try a symptom or component, such as no power, breaker, tank cold, HHHH, valve, pump buzz, no flow, dripping, timer or leak.
Back to topThe whole system or one module will not turn onSeparate the tank, filling controls, pump and heated path before escalating.Open checks
Symptoms: no lights/display, tank power is present but filling controls are dark, or a module does not respond to its normal power button.
Stop if there is evidence of damage. Do not reconnect equipment with a burning odor, heat-damaged plug, wet controls, crushed cord or bent connector pin.
Identify what is actually off. Record whether the tank controller, tank heat buttons, filling controller, pump and AutoShot timer each have power. A combination system can have more than one supply or protective device.
Confirm every operator control. Use only the normal main-power and heat controls described for the exact equipment. Keep the pump off during this check.
Verify the external supply. Review every nameplate with the facility voltage, phase, frequency and circuit. Connect directly—no extension cord, power strip, adapter or shared circuit.
Check the receptacle safely. Facility personnel may verify the receptacle with another suitable load or approved procedure. Do not perform live measurements inside the equipment.
Reset an external breaker/GFCI only once. If it trips again, stop. Repeated resetting can worsen a fault.
Inspect detachable connectors with power removed. Unplug, allow safe cooling, then check that keyed connectors are fully seated, dry and undamaged. Never force or repair a pin in the field.
Submit the module-level result. State exactly which display/light works, which does not, and whether the external circuit remains on.
A fuse, breaker, circuit protector or GFCI tripsOne reset only; repeated trips require shutdown and support.Open checks
Symptoms: a facility breaker/GFCI opens, a system protector trips, or power is lost when a particular heat or pump function is selected.
Do not install a larger fuse/protector or bypass any device. Do not repeatedly reset a trip and do not open an enclosure.
Turn off the system. Stop heat and pump functions. Disconnect power from a dry, safe location.
Record the event. Note the exact control selected, time from startup, displays, material condition and whether the tank, filling heat or pump was starting.
Inspect externally. Look for moisture, material on controls/connectors, cord damage, loose plugs, crushed hose or heat damage. Do not reuse damaged equipment.
Verify the branch circuit. Confirm nameplate voltage/phase/amperage and that no other load shares the required dedicated circuit.
Let an external breaker/protector cool and reset once. Keep the pump off. If it trips again at idle or when the same function is selected, stop and report that result.
Do not isolate by internal disconnection. Support can use the event sequence and exact configuration to provide the authorized next step.
The melting tank heats slowly, unevenly or not at allConfirm material level, required zones, heat demand and normal heat-loss conditions.Open checks
Symptoms: heat-up is longer than expected, material is not fully liquid, one area remains cooler, or the controller is on but the tank does not heat.
Do not test an empty tank. Begin at least one-third full and keep every active upper zone covered above its minimum-fill line.
Verify the supply. Use the nameplate-matched dedicated circuit and direct connection.
Confirm a call for heat. Set the approved setpoint above the current process value and record whether the controller OUT indicator turns on.
Check all required zones. Record which tank heat-button lights are on. Do not energize an upper zone without enough material to cover it.
Reduce normal heat loss. Use the lid when permitted and move the unit away from fans, drafts and open doors. Mix only with an approved, secured device and process.
Measure the bulk material safely. Use a suitable calibrated reference and a consistent approved sampling/mixing method. A surface reading is not the same as bulk temperature.
Record a comparable batch. Provide batch weight, starting temperature, setpoint, actual temperature and elapsed time.
Stop at the service boundary. OUT on with no heat, one nonworking zone or a sudden loss after a surge/outage requires model-specific factory guidance.

The tank or filling path is overheatingVerify actual bulk temperature and stop if control is not responding.Open checks
If actual temperature exceeds the material or equipment safe limit: turn heat off and follow the material SDS and facility procedure for controlled cooling. Do not add water. Open the lid or mix only when the approved material-specific procedure and PPE make that safe.
Identify the affected zone. Record tank process/set values, filling process/set values and both output indicators.
Verify actual bulk temperature. Use a suitable calibrated reference and consistent approved method.
Confirm material level. Keep the tank at least one-third full and every active zone properly covered.
Lower the setpoint if the process permits. Allow for thermal lag; temperature can rise briefly after output turns off.
Observe output behavior. If OUT remains on materially above the setpoint, the reading is implausible, or heat continues after the controller should stop, de-energize and request support.
Do not change advanced settings. Input offset, sensor type, high limits and output parameters require the exact controller/configuration.
The valve is open but material does not reach the pumpVerify the tank and outlet before troubleshooting downstream components.Open checks
Symptoms: no supply reaches the filling path, flow into the pump is very slow, or a separate source-tank transfer stops at the outlet.
Confirm valve position. On a standard ball valve, the handle aligns with the flow path when open. Do not force it.
Confirm the complete tank batch is liquid. Additives and viscosity can require a process temperature above the listed melt point, but always remain within approved limits.
Allow the outlet to warm normally. Use the tank heat/lid and sufficient material. Do not apply a torch, heat gun or other external heat.
Inspect the external geometry. Extra pipe, elbows, reducers, unsupported fittings or a mismatched quick-connect can create a cold spot or restriction. Change nothing until fully cool and unplugged.
Check the factory connection. With safe cooling and power removed, confirm the pump/transfer connection and retaining pin are fully seated and supported.
Do not probe or pressurize the outlet. Never insert a tool into a hot valve or use shop air to clear it.
Document persistent no-supply. Send material, tank setpoint/actual temperature, valve size, transfer layout and clear photos.
The heated hose or dispenser is not heatingDo not test heat by touch; use controller behavior and external observations.Open checks
Symptoms: retained material will not soften, the hose/head appears to remain cold, flow stops at one segment, or the controller displays HHHH/another abnormal value.
Keep the pump off. Do not try to force solid material through a cold path.
Confirm filling heat is on. Record process value, set value and OUT indicator. Set the approved target above the current value.
Allow the full warm-up. Use up to 1 hour for an empty path and 1–3 hours when material remains. Cold rooms and long transfer paths can take longer.
Check hose routing. Correct a kink or bend under 7 in radius only after stopping the system and when it can be done without contact with hot surfaces.
Inspect connectors with power removed. After safe shutdown/cooling, confirm keyed connectors are seated, dry and undamaged. Do not repair, bend or bridge connector pins.
Do not use touch as a test. Use controller/display behavior, material response and an appropriate non-contact/guarded facility method if authorized.
Escalate a single cold segment. Provide the exact controller reading, warm-up time and the point where flow/material response changes.
The pump does not rotate normally, binds, buzzes or stallsStop the pump immediately; confirm complete warm-up before one controlled retest.Open checks
Do not let a stalled motor remain energized. Turn the pump off. Do not repeatedly cycle it, dismantle it, turn an exposed shaft, open the control box or increase a protective device rating.
Turn the pump off. Note the sound and whether it moved at all.
Keep heat on only if otherwise safe. Confirm filling-path setpoint and OUT behavior, then allow the complete warm-up range—up to 1 hour empty or 1–3 hours with retained material.
Verify upstream supply. The tank must be fully liquid and the valve should remain closed until the pump/path is ready.
Check the hose/head path externally. Correct support/kink issues only without contact with hot surfaces and without loosening fittings.
Perform one controlled retest. With the dispenser over a catch container and all safety conditions met, briefly select pump. Normal smooth rotation is required before opening the valve/dispensing.
Stop if abnormal behavior remains. Report warm-up time, set/actual values, material, whether material was retained, and a safe video of the sound/control response.
The dispenser is clogged or no material comes outFind the last normal point in the tank-to-dispenser path.Open checks
Symptoms: the pump appears to run but the EZ-1/AutoShot produces no material, or retained material does not restart after warm-up.
Stop the pump before checking. Keep the dispenser aimed into a catch container.
Verify the tank. Confirm adequate level, fully liquid material and an approved process temperature.
Verify valve and supply path. Confirm the valve is open after warm-up and use valve/transfer checks if supply is uncertain.
Verify pump rotation. If it binds, buzzes or stalls, turn it off and use pump troubleshooting.
Verify the complete preheat. Allow the filling path up to 1 hour empty or 1–3 hours with retained material. Confirm plausible controller values and OUT behavior.
Check hose support. Maintain a 7 in minimum bend radius and remove external pinch/load conditions only when safe.
Check the correct dispenser control. Briefly operate the EZ-1 handle or one short AutoShot cycle. Do not force a resisting control.
Stop before invasive clearing. Do not insert a tool, use pressure/shop air, loosen a hot fitting or remove the head/hose. Submit the last point with known material flow.
Flow is slow, uneven, pulsing, stringing or drippingStabilize temperatures and material supply before changing fill time.Open checks
Stabilize the tank. Verify adequate level, fully liquid material, approved mixing and consistent bulk temperature.
Stabilize the filling path. Confirm its controller value, warm-up time and starting guidance of roughly 10–15°F above the tank without exceeding any safe limit.
Check the physical path. Confirm the valve is fully open, pump rotation is smooth, hose bend radius is at least 7 in and the head is fully warm.
Use a consistent test. Fill the same catch container for the same time and record weight/volume. Change only one variable between tests.
Release suspected trapped air safely. Only when the pump rotates normally and the path is fully warm, aim into a deep catch container and perform several short controlled dispense cycles with pauses. Stop if material spits, the motor labors or flow worsens.
Do not mask a flow problem with timing. Correct heat/supply consistency before increasing AutoShot fill time.
Escalate persistent dripping. Continuous flow after release/cycle stop, material at a joint, or worsening head leakage requires shutdown and Support.
Filler dispensing slowly, unevenly or dripping Open on YouTube
AutoShot fill amount, delay or cycle is incorrectConfirm stable flow first; then adjust the matching timer one value at a time.Open checks
Stop production and use a catch container. Do not test over saleable containers until one-cycle behavior is repeatable.
Confirm heat and flow first. Stabilize the tank, filling path and pump. A flow restriction cannot be corrected reliably with timer changes.
Identify the timer. On the supplied-manual timer, SET1 is delay/off time and SET2 is fill time. If labels differ, stop and obtain the exact timer instructions.
Record the starting values. Photograph the display and write down SET1/SET2 before changing them.
Adjust fill time in small increments. Keep material, temperature and container unchanged. Weigh or measure each test.
Adjust delay only for the required pause. Make one change at a time and verify several cycles.
Stop abnormal cycling. Continuous dispensing, failure to stop, an unresponsive control or unexpected movement requires pump-off/valve-close shutdown and factory support.
Material is leaking from the tank, valve or filling pathStop heat/pump, protect the controls and photograph the first visible source.Open checks
Hot leak: Keep people away and do not reach through material to operate a control. Turn heat/pump off and close the valve only when those actions can be performed safely from the normal operator position.
Protect the electrical area. Keep material away from control boxes, plugs and cords. Disconnect power only from a dry, safe location.
Photograph before cleaning. Capture the first wet point, full connection, tank/valve area, pump, hose/head joint and nearby controls.
Identify the source. Distinguish a valve thread/stem, tank seam, valve-to-pump connection, pump body, hose fitting, hose jacket or dispenser. Material can travel before dripping.
Do not tighten hot fittings. Do not use a wrench, remove a retaining pin or open a coupling while hot, pressurized or energized.
For a threaded tank valve only: after full cooling, unplugging and safe emptying, inspect the supplied thread seal and factory gasket. Start by hand and use the proper wrench; do not modify a seam.
Route filling-path leaks to Support. Do not open or dismantle a pump, heated hose, EZ-1 or AutoShot head in the field without exact written authorization.
A controller shows HHHH, an incorrect reading or abnormal outputIdentify the exact controller and affected heat zone before changing parameters.Open checks
Identify the controller. Photograph the full face, labels and display. Record whether it controls the tank or filling path.
Record process, set and output state. Note the value before pressing any key and whether OUT is on.
Verify units and actual material temperature. Use a suitable calibrated bulk reference; do not infer temperature by touching equipment.
Power-cycle only after normal safe shutdown. If the display remains abnormal, stop using the affected heat zone.
Do not copy an advanced table. Sensor type, high limit, calibration, hysteresis and output parameters are model/range specific. The filling controller requires its RELAY configuration.
Request the exact settings. Send controller photo, model/serial/order, displayed values and whether the condition followed a reset, outage or replacement.
Send enough information to identify both sides of the combination—the melting equipment and the filling/transfer equipment—plus the exact point where behavior changes.
